Hi, my name is Ellen and I live in rural Pennsylvania. I've recently embarked on a creative journey of surface pattern design, although I've been crafty and creative most of my life. I started taking pictures when I was old enough to hold a camera, and I still do. I also loved to do needlepoint when I was younger. Besides the library, one of my favorite places to visit was the craft store. I couldn't wait to pick up a new kit or new yarn and canvas to create my own designs. My mother browsed for fabric while I searched for my own goodies. Both of my grandmothers sewed and my mother sewed for most of her life, so there was always fabric in our home. My mother sewed many of her own clothes as well as mine. She even made my wedding dress. Our biggest project together was making a king-size double wedding ring quilt for my sister.
I came across surface pattern design/surface design several years ago and instantly fell in love. I've always loved geometric patterns. This may come from the needlepoint patterns I created years ago or all of the quilt patterns I watched my mother work on. I'm inspired by nature and all of its beauty, as well as folk art. I try to marry all of those influences in the designs I create as well as the use of nostalgic muted color palettes.
Thank you for stopping by, looking at my designs, and taking the time to get to know me.
Have a wonderful day!
Ellen
